Weblog comments

Syndirella really needs to support this. And it will. Quite soon. :-)

Cool! I saw that earlier this morning and was going to suggest that on the Yahoo group.

I've updated my RSS 2.0 feed :)

Glad to hear it!

This way of evangelizing really seems to work.

I'm going to write up <guid>s with permalinks tomorrow. A very easy feature with a big payoff for users and authors.

Also let me know if you have any questions and thanks for supporting the comments feature.

If I am getting it right, supporting the rss comments feature means that the feed reader can tell where to redirect the user in case he/she wants to post a comment, right ?

I think it might be a little better (probably via a namespace in rss) to post FROM Syndirella NOT within Syndirella. The RSS feed might contain where to post the comment to, what fields are required (email, url, comment, etc). Syndirella could gather this information and build a dialog that corresponds to the field requirements and then post directly.

This would indeed free the user from having to visit the page to make the post and having a better text editor than a textarea in a browser. Also, personal information must not be remembered bye the site because its always in Syndirella (in Settins, or ini file).

I think supporting the comments capability within the feeds is a cool idea, but to what lengths Syndirella supports this capability should be spelled out in "what is Syndirella supposed to be?" Is it a news reader? or a news writer? or both?

Personally, I don't think having to go to a site to post comments is all that bad of a thing. But that's just my opinion. :-)
