  • Fixed the crash on startup in the last daily build.
  • Now using the standard function for replacing HTML entities - System.Web.HttpUtil.HTMLEncode(). Thus, all entities are now processed correctly. (Suggested by Victor Sanchez.)
  • Fixed an exception produced if feeds were added or removed in the middle of the auto-update loop (Issue40).
  • "Next unread item" now starts looking for a feed with unread items from the currently selected feed, not from the top of the list.
  • Added "Copy link to clipboard" to the item popup menu.
  • Moved the "Back" and "Forward" buttons to the beginning of the toolbar. (Suggested by Allan Wilson.)
  • The "Update all feeds" toolbar button did not work. (Reported by edmz.)
  • Importing corrupt OPML files now produces a friendly error message, not a stacktrace. (Reported by Michael Alderete.)
  • The default font for items is now Verdana 10pt.

ExcellentStuff,Yole!

(Shift-Space seems to work though, bizarrely).
Thanks for all your hard work; Syndirella is fantastic.

I've got the same problem with the space thing.

For example:
You're on Yole's Weblog feed, and click the hyperlink to open up IE inside the window(which seems to take a lot longer than 0.92b?). All fine, the page displays with no problems.

Now try and use the "Post a comment" form, and type in your first name, then a SPACE ...

It immediately jumps to the next unread news item of the newsfeed list.

So I'd guess this keyboard shortcut needs to be disabled when the IE window has focus.

Also, while I'm at it what's the chances of having a choice between using the Mozilla Control (http://www.iol.ie/~locka/mozilla/mozilla.htm) as an option instead of IE? It's very similar to embedding IE and a lot of people will love you for it :)

Just one other thing, the behaviour of the address bar edit control behaviour is subtly different to IE - for instance: single-lclicking to focus on the editbox selects the whole text, but you can't select partial text, and double-clicking doesn't re-select the entire text. (Yes, this is a *tiny* gripe I know!)

Keep up the fantastic work Dmitry, Syndirella rocks!

Thanks,

Stef

Excellent work! A couple of suggestions though:

* I would like the browser navigation to be on the horizontal bar above the browser, rather than overloaded on the toolbar all the way at the top left of the application. This would be a LOT easier to get to since you are using the mouse inside the web browser anyway

* How about an Outlook preview-pane-style interface for the items? When looking through the unread items (spacing through them) I have to keep up with content in three separate panes to see (a) which feed I'm in, (b) which item I'm looking at, and (c) the text of the item. Instead, in the item content area, just below the middle bar, how about having the feed name and the item ID and timestamp listed as well? This could be turned off by the user if they don't want that, but I definitely do want that. Use Outlook's preview pane option to see what I mean.

* Application-wide feed settings. I want to be able to tell syndirella to download all feeds once every three hours, or once every hour, or six hours, etc. As it stands now I have to edit every single feed to do this.

* Move feeds in the display. Let me move the feeds up and down in the feed listing so they are ordered the way I want.

* Feed categories. Heck while we're at it, let's make folders on the left to hold feeds so we can categorize them. And then specify update frequency on a per-category basis. :D

* Item sorting. Every few uses I click on the Date or Title headings in the item list to try and sort on those fields, and get frustrated because they *look* like they are sortable, just like virtually every other field heading in Windows... ;)

Like I said, EXCELLENT WORK -- just wanted to offer those opinions and requests and hope they make it into a final release.

Keep it up!! :)

Feature suggestion: Post comment.

A growing number of people use the feed readers to read comments made to posts. Posting a comment from within Syndirella would be a big plus.

Of course, there should be some way of finding if the feeds server supports comments and a way to find the correct place to posts comments for a specific post, but this could be specified in the rss (probably with another namespace).

Not complex technically. Problem might be adoption, but if the tool exists, people might jump in.
